About Boise Elks

WELCOME TO THE BOISE ELKS LODGE

If you are not a member and are somewhat unfamiliar with the Elks, here are a few points of interest we wish to share with you.

We are part of a national fraternal organization which boasts over one million members, both male and female. We are a benevolent group of friends who honor our Flag and Country as well as perform a variety of community service functions.

Our dues along with personal donations, and funds derived from participation in our many social functions support our charitable and veterans programs. Through Elks programs that benefit young people, we are helping to create America’s future leaders. Our programs help keep America’s youth free from drugs, encourage the pursuit of a good education, even teach teamwork and good sportsmanship. We help instill values in our young people through programs such as our Hoop Shoot
Soccer Shoot, Americanism essay contest and others. Our Hoop Shoot competition for boys and girls age 8 through 13 have more than 3 million participants nationally each year, which makes it the largest coeducational sports program in the country. The Hoop Shoot as well as its companion program, the Soccer Shoot, teaches vital leadership skills as perseverance and achievement under pressure.

For young people whose dream is to complete their higher education, the Elks offer university scholarships approximately $10 million each year. This helps the Elks rank as one of the largest providers of university level scholarships in the United States.

We work with other organizations and agencies through our drug awareness programs, providing young people with healthy and safe alternatives to drugs and alcohol. We have distributed more than 150 million pieces of educational literature to students, educators, and parents.

In addition to the youth and veterans programs, our Charity Fund also provides resources for assembling food baskets for families just before Christmas.

The Boise Lodge keeps its membership advised of the many functions scheduled each month through the publishing of our newsletter titled the “Temple Chimes’ and our web site boiseelks.org.
